ABOUT

WHO WE ARE

Mandurah Street Chaplains (MSC) is a volunteer non-denominational Christian organisation that has a heart and passion for local community to thrive.

We come under the umbrella of Western Urban Associate (WA) Incorporated who provide us with training notes; insurances; uniforms; councillors (should need arise) and general support.

Our volunteers patrol on foot Mandurah CBD and foreshore Saturday evenings between 11pm and 4am, in a team of 2 providing a caring hand to all those in need. MSC is looking for new volunteers to meet our goal and the call of the local community. If you are interested click here to download our Expression of Interest form.

MSC is a regional centre of Street Chaplains WA and has been operational since February 2014.

Street Chaplains WA provides us with training materials; policy documents; insurances; uniforms; general support and counselling services should the need arise.

Apart from the above MSC is a fully autonomous, incorporated not for profit organisation fully operated by volunteers. The Director of MSC is supported by Board and all volunteer members. We are required to fund, promote; secure and train our team along with ensuring ongoing training is maintained and material stocks are held. To cover costs, funding is sourced through donations; fundraising and grants.
Currently MSC has 14 volunteers (with a further 4 training in February). Volunteers are paired in twos and rostered once per month on Saturday evening from 11pm – 4am in which you’ll patrol on foot around the foreshore; The Pen; and Mandurah CBD, providing a caring hand in a non- judgmental manner to everyone in need.

MSC has a wonderful relationship with local hoteliers; Liquor Accord team; City of Mandurah and local police, security team all working together to promote and ensure a safe environment in which visitors and the local community can enjoy our city.

Goal for 2021

MSC goal for 2021 is to expand our existing number of volunteers to allow us to provide a Friday night service and establish a new service, being a Day Service.

Our Day service will predominantly support homeless and street present people, by developing and building trust, enhancing relationships, and extending a hand of friendship.
